Comedian Tim Heidecker joins Kyle Meredith to delve into the creative processes behind his latest album, Slipping Away. Listen to the interview above or wherever you get your podcasts.

Known for his comedy projects like Tim and Eric, Heidecker’s new record showcases his personal and musical evolution, which deepened during the pandemic. “I was hesitant to get sincere because my comedy was so drenched in irony. But this record taps into deeper fears and anxieties,” Heidecker explains.

A large part of Heidecker’s musical growth stems from the collaborative environment he’s fostered in Los Angeles: “It’s something I hadn’t really done—making a record with a band, not just session players. We did it together.” That band, The Very Good Band, will support Heidecker on his just-announced 2025 tour dates. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 19th at 10:00 a.m. local time, and you can get them via Ticketmaster.

Outside of the album, we also get to hear about Heidecker’s role in the upcoming A24 film Y2K, which is directed and co-written by Saturday Night Live alum Kyle Mooney. Heidecker also shares the fun story of the time he drove Pixies frontman Frank Black around in a minivan.
