Tobias Jesso Jr. stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform “I Love You,” a song off his recent album s h i n e.
The performance began with Jesso Jr. seated at the piano and bathed in a solitary yellow spotlight. He ran through a moving rendition of the ballad, which finds Jesso Jr. expressing pure devotion to his partner and assuring her that come what may, he’ll be there to love and support her. Around the final chorus, however, his drummer flies into the song with a massive, blown-out series of drum fills to accompany Jesso Jr.’s croons. Watch the performance below.
“I Love You” is the penultimate track on s h i n e, Jesso Jr.’s first album in 10 years (following his lauded 2015 debut album Goon). He released the song along with the album’s announcement back in November, and shared the track’s official music video starring Riley Keough and Dakota Johnson.
In the meantime, Jesso Jr. remains a prolific songwriter, penning tracks with Rosalía, Justin Bieber, Dijon, HAIM, Olivia Dean, Miley Cyrus, Maren Morris, and Bon Iver, all just in 2025. For his songwriting work, Jesso Jr. was recently nominated for the Grammy Award for Songwriter of the Year for the second time; he won the inaugural award back in 2023 for his work writing with Harry Styles, Adele, Omar Apollo, and more.
