Tomorrowland’s Main Stage Burns Down Days Before Festival Opens

4 hours ago 3

The main stage for Tomorrowland, the massive Belgian EDM festival located outside of Antwerp, has caught fire and burned down just two days before the festival was set to open.

Photos and videos of the large fire began circulating around 12:30pm EST, with the Belgian news outlet VRT confirming the reports. They state that emergency services are actively trying to put out the fire, and that fireworks were heard during the blaze. VRT claims that as of this writing, the main stage has been “almost completely destroyed.”

Fortunately, no festival-goers were reported to be on-site, as the festival was set to begin its first weekend on Friday, July 18th. It is currently unknown if the fire resulted in any injuries or fatalities. The cause of the fire is also still unknown, though the stage is rigged for comprehensive pyrotechnics each year and would explain why fireworks accompanied the blaze.

As of this writing, Tomorrowland has yet to make a statement regarding the cancellation or continuing of this year’s festival.
