UK Royal Mint Celebrates Pink Floyd with Official Commemorative Coin

The UK Royal Mint has announced the first ever commemorative coin honoring Pink Floyd. The coin depicts The Dark Side of the Moon‘s iconic rainbow prism cover, with King Charles III’s face on the flip side.

The coin comes in several editions ranging from a basic £5 coin retailing for £18.50 ($25 US) to a 1 ounce gold proof version selling for £5,320 ($7,183 US). A limited edition of the coin features a full-color printing of the iconic cover with a rainbow prism effect.

Director of Commemorative Coins for the Royal Mint Rebecca Morgan stated, “Pink Floyd are one of those truly rare bands whose music and imagery have transcended generations and the moment you see this coin, you know exactly who it celebrates.”

She continued, “The iconic prism is instantly recognizable to fans around the world, and Henry Gray has done a remarkable job of bringing it to life with the craft and detail this band deserves. Their influence on music, art and culture is immeasurable, and we’re incredibly proud that The Royal Mint can play its part in preserving that legacy forever.”

Alongside the coin, the Mint has also produced an exclusive pick for purchase made of gold, silver, and black chrome.
