‘Uncharted’ fans believe a new game is in the works alongside ‘The Last Of Us Part 3’

Uncharted fans believe a brand new game featuring professional treasure hunter Nathan Drake and his daughter Cassie is in the works at Naughty Dog.

The first Uncharted game Drake’s Fortune was released in 2007 and spawned a number of sequels and spin-offs, including 2016’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and 2017 expansion, The Lost Legacy.

In 2023 Neil Druckmann, boss of developers Naughty Dog, claimed that the studio wouldn’t be making any more Uncharted games. “Uncharted 4 was one of our best selling games — and we’re able to put our final brushstroke on that story and say that we’re done. We’re moving on.”

Since the release of Uncharted 4, the studio has released the hugely-successful The Last Of Us series and is currently working on new sci-fi game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

However, fans are convinced a new Uncharted game is also in the works. Earlier this month The Lost Legacy co-director Shaun Escayg shared an image of a cannon from Fort George in Trinidad and Tobago alongside the caption “research”. Leaker Alir then reposted it, saying “I’ve said it several times now: Naughty Dog’s second game is an Uncharted [game], and Escayg is its director. One more little piece of proof.”

Naughty Dog’s Vinit Agarwal recently revealed that Naughty Dog was working on two single-player games when it scrapped its multiplayer The Last Of Us spin-off in 2023.

And last year, Druckmann confirmed Naughty Dog were working on another game alongside Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. “I’m in more of a producer role and I get to mentor, watch this other team, and give feedback,” he explained, with many fans convinced the secret project was Uncharted because Druckmann was unlikely to give anyone else creative control over The Last Of Us.

Uncharted 4: The Lost Legacy ended with treasure hunters Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher telling their young daughter Cassie about their previous adventures, with fans expecting a new Uncharted game to feature both Nathan and Cassie as playable characters.

Last month, Druckmann also teased the “road ahead” of The Last Of Us after previously hinting at “one more chapter” in the survival action series. However neither Druckmann or Naughty Dog have confirmed more The Last Of Us or Uncharted games. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is currently due to release at some point in 2027.
