In this new trailer for the Peter Dinklage-starring remake of The Toxic Avenger, it takes a minute or so before you find out why, exactly, this is the uncensored trailer. Then, the mayhem begins, as a Toxie for a new generation begins causing bloody carnage — sticking up for the little guy with his super-strength and toxic mop.
The original Toxic Avenger was written and directed by Lloyd Kaufman in 1984, and was followed by three movie sequels, a video game, a stage musical, a Marvel Comics series, and an animated TV show. That’s more than most franchises get — and now, it’s getting a reboot! Starring Dinklage, Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Taylour Paige, Jacob Tremblay, and Jane Levy, Toxic Avenger has been waiting a while for its release, following its 2023 premiere at Fantastic Fest.
According to the official description, “When a downtrodden janitor, Winston Gooze, is exposed to a catastrophic toxic accident, he’s transformed into a new kind of hero: The Toxic Avenger. Now, Toxie must rise from outcast to savior, taking on ruthless corporate overlords and corrupt forces who threaten his son, his friends, and his community. In a world where greed runs rampant… justice is best served radioactive.”
