Vampire Weekend Perform “Connect” on Fallon: Watch

1 month ago 14

Vampire Weekend stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “Connect,” a song from their 2024 album Only God Was Above Us.

Decked out with heaps of yellow caution tape and construction vests that read “VW Tunnel Crew,” Vampire Weekend went all out for their Fallon slot. In addition to core members Ezra Koenig, Chris Baio, and Chris Tomson, the trio brought along a small choir, a string section, an extra percussionist, a piano player, and an additional synth player/instrumentalist for the performance. Koenig got in on the instrumental action too, laying down a whizzing vibraphone line alongside the band’s pianist during the song’s bridge. Watch Vampire Weekend perform “Connect” below.

The performance arrived in the midst of Vampire Weekend’s fall tour, which stopped in New York City over the weekend. Across their two shows at Madison Square Garden (which included a matinee), the band played over 40 songs from their catalogue, covered Billy Joel’s “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant” and The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside,” and brought back their mini cornhole tournament a la their Coachella appearance earlier this year.

The band has a handful of dates left on their fall tour; See their remaining tour dates below, and get tickets to see Vampire Weekend here. Revisit our review of Only God Was Above Us, which we described as their most bittersweet album.
