Very Young Frankenstein Comedy in the Works at FX

FX is closing in on a pilot order for a comedy series inspired by Mel Brooks’ 1974 classic, Young Frankenstein, under the working title Very Young Frankenstein, reports Variety.

While plot details are being kept under wraps, the project will be executive produced by Brooks alongside What We Do in the Shadows producers Taika Waititi, Stefani Robinson, and Garrett Basch. Robinson is attached as the writer and showrunner, with Waititi set to direct.

Should the pilot be picked up for a full series, it would be the latest adaptation of a classic Brooks film to hit the small screen, following Hulu’s sketch comedy series History of the World, Part II. Brooks is also set to reprise his role as Yogurt in an upcoming Spaceballs sequel.
