Vocalist VINCE NEIL Says A Stroke Is What Caused MÖTLEY CRÜE To Push Back Their Las Vegas Residency

3 hours ago 3

Earlier in the year, Mötley Cruë announced they had to reschedule their Las Vegas residency due to take place from March to April because vocalist Vince Neil needed to undergo a "required medical procedure recently advised by [his] doctors."

Now, their rescheduled residency from September to October has kicked off at the Dolby Live at Park MGM as of last night, 12th of September, and Vince Neil has revealed to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, as reported by NME, that the reason for the cancellation was not actually a required medical procedure, but extensive medical care due to a paralysing stroke.

Vince Neil told the Las Vegas Review that he suffered a stroke around Christmas in 2024, stating that he was unable to use the entirety of the left side of his body. Thankfully, his voice was left unaffected despite the paralysis, but due to nerve endings being disrupted during a stroke, the paralysis left him unable to walk, so Neil endured months of physical therapy and is now "95%" back to normal, "It takes a while to get your brain to start moving your legs, for them to do what your brain wants to do. You try to walk but it doesn't come out right."

He specifically describes that when he had his stroke, and he lost control of his left side, "I had to learn to walk again, and that was tough. The doctors said they didn't think I'd be able to go back on stage again." Neil elaborated, "I went from people carrying me to the bathroom, because I couldn't walk myself, finally to a wheelchair. I graduated to a walker, and then I had a cane. Now I don't need anything."

About a month after the announcement of their rescheduled dates, Mötley Cruë also pulled out of Boardwalk Rock festival, citing health reasons.

Then, about three months after pulling out the festival, Nikki Sixx was asked by a fan on Twitter/X about Mötley Cruë not performing at Black Sabbath's Back To The Beginning farewell, to which Sixx responded that there were "health issues within the band," which was originally thought to be Neil's medical procedure.

As of now, the Mötley Cruë residency has kicked off without a hitch and Neil is pretty much back to normal – which is a near miracle because approximately 10% of patients make a full recovery, with the majority needing specialised care for the rest of their lives due to severe impairment.
