Acid Bath have reunited, playing their first show together in 28 years last week. Check out the footage below.

The sludge metal legends announced their plans to return last year, with a slated first gig to take place at Sick New World Festival on April 12.

However, the festival was soon cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances”, leading to Acid Bath announcing further shows instead.

Their long-awaited reunion finally happened on Friday (April 25) at the Fillmore in New Orleans, exactly 28 years after they last played together.

The line-up included three of the band’s founding members, with lead singer Dax Riggs, guitarist Sammy ‘Pierre’ Duet and guitarist Mike Sanchez on board. They’ll be joined by drummer Zack Simmons and bassist Alex Bergeron. Founding keyboardist Tommy Viator died last year.

To mark the occasion, the band played tracks from 1994’s ‘When The Kite String Pops’ and 1996’s ‘Paegan Terrorism Tactics’, including ‘Dead Girl’, which marked the track’s first ever live performance.

They also dedicated ‘Scream Of The Butterfly’ to their late bassist Audie Pitre, who passed in 1997. See footage, and their full setlist, below.

Acid Bath’s reunion show setlist was:

‘Tranquilized’
‘Bleed Me An Ocean’
‘Graveflower’
‘The Bones Of Baby Dolls’
‘Dead Girl’
‘Old Skin’
‘New Death Sensation’
‘Venus Blue’
‘Scream Of The Butterfly’
‘Paegan Love Song’
‘Dr. Seuss Is Dead’

The Sludge Metal Legends will also play a string of festival dates this summer, including Florida’s Welcome to Rockville festival which will take place from May 15 – 18, Inkcarceration in Mansfield, Ohio on July 18-20, and Kentucky’s Louder Than Life festival from September 18 – 21.

Acid Bath formed in 1991 and released two albums in their lifespan: 1994’s ‘When the Kite String Pops’ and ‘Paegan Terrorism Tactics’ in 1996. They broke up in 1997 when bassist Audie Pitre and his parents were killed in a car crash by a drunk driver.
