Charli XCX and Troye Sivan were joined by Kesha last night (October 15) during their most recent stop on their co-headlining tour.

During the latest show at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California as part of XCX and Sivan’s ongoing ‘Sweat’ tour, the two singers brought out the ‘We R Who We R’ hitmaker as a surprise guest.

Midway through the night’s set, XCX sang the first verse of her track ‘Spring Breakers’ before bringing out Kesha – who was dressed in a pink fur coat – to perform their new remix of the song which was released earlier this week.

After the performance, Sivan joined the two for a cover of Kesha’s 2010 hit ‘TiK ToK’. Elsewhere in the night, Tate McRae also appeared as a special guest to perform ‘You’, her collab track with Sivan.

‘Spring Breakers’ featuring Kesha was released yesterday and was teased earlier this week via a Brat green billboard on the side of a truck. The original song appeared as one of the three bonus tracks on XCX’s ‘Brat’ deluxe album ‘Brat and it’s the same but there’s three more songs so it’s not’.

XCX’s most recent release was ‘Brat And It’s Completely Different But Also Still Brat’. In a glowing five-star review of the remix album, NME shared that the LP “is a home run for its creator, letting her finish the game on her own terms. She has perfected the art of remixing, keeping the songs moving by giving them a brand new lease of life rather than letting them exist statically in their original form.”

It continues: “Although, to her, her career “feels small in the existential scheme of it all”, as she laments in ‘I Think About It All The Time’, the bottom line is that, with her sparkling CV, she’s more than earned the high praise this album and the world around it have brought her.”

Previously speaking about her decision to create the remix album at her listening party at the Storm King Art Center in Upstate, NY, XCX said: “One of the reasons I wanted to do this project was because I feel like it is really cool to show the infinite possibilities of dance music and music in general.

“It’s like to me, when a song comes out when you make a song, there’s still so many different versions of that song that could be made using just a tiny element of production from the original or a tiny reference to a lyrical concept or a literal lyric. I just feel it could all be completely deconstructed and then put back together again you know? like why not?”

The revamped album arrived in the thick of her co-headline run with Sivan on the ‘Sweat Tour’, which NME said in a five-star review saw the “former pop underdogs cement their status as arena-slaying icons”.

“Both Sivan and XCX have spent time as pop’s underdogs – niche at the start of their respective careers but, in hindsight, always ahead of the game,” it went on.

“As they wrap up the night with performances of their collaborations ‘1999’ and the ‘Talk Talk’ remix, it’s clear that they’ve both not just mastered their craft but are now getting the recognition they deserve. ‘Brat’ summer might be over, but these two are just getting started.”

In other news, Blossoms recently teamed up with Rick Astley for a cover of XCX‘s ‘360’ in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.
