Stevie Nicks made her long-awaited return to Saturday Night Live (SNL) after 41 years, serving as the musical guest for the October 12 episode hosted by Ariana Grande.

The Fleetwood Mac vocalist performed her new single, ‘The Lighthouse,’ as well as her classic hit, ‘Edge of Seventeen.’

Dressed in all-black, this marked the musician’s second-ever appearance on the show, and her first in 41 years. The last time Nicks was on SNL was in 1983 when she performed ‘Stand Back’ and ‘Night Bird’. Her band Fleetwood Mac has never performed on the comedy show.

Watch Nicks perform ‘The Lighthouse’ and ‘Edge of Seventeen’ below.

Nicks released her new track ‘The Lighthouse’ in September, inspired by the US Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v Wade.

The former Fleetwood Mac singer has described the song as “the most important thing I ever do”, a rousing call to arms for women to reclaim their reproductive healthcare rights in the US and beyond.

I have my scars, you have yours / Don’t let them take your power,” she sings softly at the opening of the track. The track swells into a full rock production, with Nicks singing: “They’ll take your soul, they’ll take your power / Unless you save it / And that’s that / Unless you stand up and take it back”.

Nicks has recently encouraged her fans to “select the candidate who resonates with you and your beliefs” when voting in the US presidential election.

Saturday night’s episode of SNL was hosted by Ariana Grande, who was the third host of the historic show’s 50th season. She delivered impressions of Britney SpearsCeline Dion and Miley Cyrus.

Kicking off the show, Grande delivered a monologue referencing her upcoming role as Glinda in the Wicked movie. “It’s awesome, because I’m such a theatre kid. And it’s every theatre kid’s dream to be Glinda or Elphaba,” she told the audience. “Well, it’s every theater kid’s dream to lose their virginity. But their second dream is of course to be in Wicked.”

Later in the show she impersonated Celine Dion during a sketch that spoofed the singer’s surprising promo for the NFL last week.

Elsewhere in the show, the cast performed a sketch as Oasis, poking fun at their past turbulent relationship. Liam Gallagher has since reacted to the bit, writing on Twitter/X: “Are they meant to be comedians”.
