The Amity Affliction have been making headlines over the last six months regarding the dispute with their ex-vocalist Ahren Stringer, but the band seem to be trucking away without a bother to them as they drop new music for the first time in two years.
The Amity Affliction's first release of the year, "All That I Remember," dropped Wednesday ahead of their tour with Beartooth, I Prevail, Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, and others, and the new single is right on par for The Amity Affliction.
Detailing a relationship with an emotionally absentee parent, frontman Joel Birch writes about his mother and the emotions he's cycled through since her death, "My mother knew only abuse and isolation, even in death as she cut her own children off. She died as she lived, paranoid and alone."
His brother Beau Birch weighed in, elaborating that the lyrical intensity of the song is warranted, "Time and again, our mother showed us that she would put herself first, and use life's pain to justify her actions of self-interests, while we were left to fend for ourselves."
Lyrically intense, sonically brutal, it's exactly what The Amity Affliction fans have come to know and love from the band.
