Coachella is known for hosting some of the biggest headliners for music festivals, but they also find room for more unique acts. This year, Yo Gabba Gabba!, the band from the titular children’s show, performed at the Mojave Tent, and brought on a slew of guests, including “Weird Al” Yankovic for his debut performance at the Indio festival.
“Weird Al” joined YGG! for their final song, a cover of The Muppets’ “Rainbow Connection” which received a roar of applause at its end from the crowd. “Weird Al” wasn’t the only guest for the cover though: Portugal the Man., Thundercat, and Paul Williams, who co-wrote the 1978 song made an appearance, too.

The concert was pure mascot mayhem, because characters from brands and beyond joined the fun as well. Duo, the owl mascot for the language learning platform Duolingo danced onstage, as did Domo, the Japanese NHK mascot, among many others.
In terms of, erm, human guests, YGG! collaborators like Thundercat joined to perform his co-written track “The Orange Cat’s Special Time Outdoors,” and Flavor Flav rapped “I Love Bugs.” DJ Lance Rock, the human host of YGG!’s original run from 2007-2015, appeared for “DJ Lance Says.”
Yo Gabba Gabba! ended its original run on Nickelodeon in 2015, but has since been revived in 2024 after acquisition from Apple TV+. In this new iteration, called Yo Gabba GabbaLand!, musical guests have included Flea and Reggie Watts, with actors/comedians Sam Richardson and Chelsea Peretti also making cameos.
In “Weird Al” news, the parody-musician is on tour across the United States through late September, including a slot at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Festival. Get tickets for a show near you here. He also starred in a Clairo music video directed by Ayo Edebiri and has allegedly been considered for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction by the institution’s chairman John Sykes.
YGG! have made a handful of appearances at Coachella, including a set in 2010 and in 2024 for festival grounds photo-ops. Check out Yo Gabba Gabba!’s setlist below and head here for more coverage of Coachella 2025.
