The two-part film adaptation of Wicked, a prequel to The Wizard Of Oz, comes to a spectacular conclusion with Wicked: For Good.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, the musical fantasy film adapts the second half of the stage show, and explores the relationship between Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) as they embrace their new identities as the Wicked Witch Of The West and Glinda the Good.

Alongside Erivo and Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and Marissa Bode all reprise their roles. New additions to the cast include Colman Domingo, who voices Brrr the Cowardly Lion.

Wicked: For Good was released in cinemas worldwide on November 21, 2025.

Dorothy is played by Bethany Weaver, a British dancer and actor who has starred in theatre shows like Broken Wings and Oklahoma! The Musical. Her brief appearance in Wicked, and more notably Wicked: For Good, marks her feature film debut.

Weaver’s face never actually appears in the film, but you get to see her silhouette in Wicked: For Good, as she interacts with Ariana Grande’s Glinda.

Why is Dorothy’s face hidden in the film?

The decision to minimise Dorothy’s role in Wicked: For Good is echoed in the original musical, where any interactions with the character take place off-stage.

Director Jon M. Chu also explained the decision in an interview with People, describing Dorothy as a “pawn in the middle” of Elphaba and Glinda’s story: “I didn’t want to step on who you think Dorothy is in whatever story that you came into this with,” he said.

Speaking to Empire about Dorothy’s obscured role, Cynthia Erivo said: “I think that’s such a wonderful thing to do, because then everyone gets to keep the Dorothy that they know.”
