The trailer for Wicked: For Good premiered at CinemaCon – here’s what you can expect from the forthcoming sequel to the 2024 blockbuster.

Per Variety Fair, the clip made its debut at the week-long media event, which concludes today (April 3). Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo appeared onstage to introduce the trailer for the film, which is due for release November 21.

“It has been quite a year since we joined you here last year,” Erivo said to the crowd, per the CinemaCon X/Twitter account. The two actors were flanked by director Jon M. Chu and producer Marc Platt, the former stating: “We asked you to all believe in us when we were here last year and you did.”

The Wicked: For Good trailer has yet to be shown to the public, so Variety Fair‘s report involves descriptions of scenes involving Grande’s Glinda and Erivo’s Elphaba.

The former, seen wearing a large tiara given to her by Madame Horrible (Michelle Yeoh) and the Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum), is shown longing for Elphaba’s return. She says in a voice-over: “Elphaba, I know you’re out there”.

Elphaba, on the other hand, is persona non grata after the events of the first film. She’s seen flying on her broomstick, writing the words “Our wizard lies” in the sky. Glinda is also shown getting married to Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), while the characters of The Wizard of Oz – Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion – make a brief cameo.

“Glinda has to really look at her reflection and discover what it means to be Glinda the Good,” Grande told the crowd before the trailer, which also features snippets of songs ‘No Good Deed’ and ‘For Good’.

Last month, Grande and Erivo opened the 2025 Oscars with a medley of ‘Defying Gravity’, ‘Home’ and ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’. Wicked won two out of 10 nominations that night – for Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. See the full list of Oscar winners here.

Erivo previously revealed that she co-wrote an original song for Wicked: For Good. “I collaborated on one of the new songs, and it’s so special to me,” she said. “When we filmed it, the entire crew was in tears. I hope audiences are ready — it’s a song that speaks to the heart of who Elphaba is.”

Director Chu also claimed last year that the sequel is “more relevant” to where we are “in society right now,”: “Part Two, I will say because I’ve cut Part Two together, is a doozy. “[You’re] getting the meat. I did not know the context of where we’d be in society right now. It becomes eight times more relevant than before when you’re talking about truth and consequences of making the right or wrong choices. It’s intense.”
