The soundtrack to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is getting released on vinyl for the very first time.

Released last year, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a soulslike action role-playing game, set in the land of Shu during the dark and tumultuous late Ming Dynasty. Players take control of Bai Wuchang, a skilled pirate warrior struck by amnesia who’s trying to find a cure for the ‘Feathering’ disease that causes every NPC to attack her on sight.

It’s now been confirmed the game’s lush soundtrack is being released on vinyl for the first time. The 2LP set features 29 tracks composed by Xu Wutong, Zhai Jinyan, Zhang Zhenkun, and Cao Lishu and has been specially mastered for vinyl by Joe Caithness. The gatefold sleeve features new artwork by developer Leenzee, representing the game’s protagonist Bai Wuchang.

A standard black 2LP black set and a limited-edition ‘Crimson Edge’ vinyl collection are available to pre-order now, via Laced Records.

The soundtrack for Wuchang: Fallen Feathers “reflects a world plagued by warring factions, disease, and monstrous creatures,” explains a press release. “The music captures the solemn beauty of the landscape and the dread lurking beneath it. Traditional and ancient Chinese instruments such as the qiang flute, erhu fiddle, and guzheng zither feature throughout alongside powerful vocal performances fuelled by heavy percussion, symphonic strings and electric guitar passages for the most intense boss battles.”

Publishers 505 Games haven’t revealed how many copies of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers they’ve sold, but they have reported “significant sales volume”. Despite this, hopes of a sequel or DLC were dashed earlier this month after it was reported that the development team at Leenzee Games had been dissolved.

In other news, Nintendo boss Shigeru Miyamoto has been left “baffled” by the negative reviews of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.“I thought things would be different this time around—only to find that the criticism is even harsher than it was before,”
