Young Miko has reflected on the importance of seeing queer representation in Latin music early in her career, pointing to fellow Puerto Rican artist Kany García as one of the figures who helped provide it. Asked by ELLE México about being viewed as a queer role model, Miko pointed out that other artists had paved the way before her. “For me, it was super important when Kany García came out,” she said, citing the fellow Puerto Rican singer as an example. In 2024, they teamed up for “En Esta Boca,” a collaboration from Kany’s album GARCÍA that paired her singer-songwriter roots with Miko’s urban sound.
