It comes as the singer – real name Dominic Harrison – recently shared his first new music of 2025 in the form of a single titled ‘Hello Heaven, Hello’. It marked his first track since 2024’s ‘Breakdown’ and a teaser of what will be his first LP since 2022’s self-titled album.
At time of writing, little is known about the upcoming album, although Yungblud has been dropping numerous hints in recent months. Last December, he told NME that it is likely going to be a double album, and he also discussed how proud he is of the record and got fans talking by making a return to social media.
Now, Harrison has spoken to Apple Music and shared more details about what went into making the record. This involves pushing the envelope in terms of what fans can expect, and taking inspiration from some of the biggest names in rock.
“[With] this album and this song, I feel like I’m really about to arrive in a way that I don’t think I have done before,” he said. “I really allowed myself to really let my imagination lead. [It’s about] waking up every morning and letting that adventure unfold before my eyes. And I think that that’s the biggest word for this album.”
“I’ve been listening to a lot of, old-old school music, going back to people like Bonnie Raitt and Linda Ronstadt and Led Zeppelin and kind of even Elton John,” he added. “Rock is my genre. I feel like I’ve been dabbling in many different things and trying to twist rock, but I feel like at the minute it’s exciting because rock music feels spherical… it needed to sound big, it needed to sound cinematic.”
He also went on to share how pleased he is with the end result and explain how it feels like a “cultural reset” for him.
“Honestly, I can say more than ever, we have had the most emotional ride making this. And it’s been more funny and more painful than anything ever and we love it,” he said. “I’ve never been more proud to stand by anything that I’ve ever made. For me, this is going to be a real cultural reset and a real moment. It is wild.”
So far, the only preview of the currently untitled album came in the form of the single ‘Hello Heaven, Hello’. Sharing the inspiration behind the song in the Apple Music interview, Harrison said: “This whole song is about self-reclamation. It’s a whole journey about looking myself in the mirror and trying to find a sense of strength. I think I’ve been quite a polarizing character for a lot of people, and no one has judged me more harshly than myself.
“That’s what this song is literally about. It’s a goodbye and a hello to the future. Now, I am home. I’m in a new place in my life. I’m a completely different person really to what I was a while ago.”
The comments about taking inspiration from Led Zeppelin mirror comments Yungblud made last March, when he spoke to NME and named the Oasis, The Verve, Primal Scream, My Chemical Romance, David Bowie and Madonna as inspirations.
Tomorrow (March 21), Yungblud will play a surprise free show in London to preview some of the new material live for fans.
Then, this summer he is set to perform at the second instalment of his own festival, Bludfest, which will also see appearances from Chase Atlantic, Denzel Curry, Blackbear and former NME Cover stars Rachel Chinouriri and Peach PRC. Visit here for tickets.
