Patchwork originated as demos recorded during a period of self-doubt, which Wilson later recognised as finished works in their own right and describes as “a nonlinear collection of moments - stitched together with intention, honesty, and restraint.” During a warm-up press tour for the EP, Wilson held a series of parties for fans in New York, Toronto and London where a limited number of unmixed, unmastered copies of the EP were also given out.
The Toronto-based artist shares the news alongside a new single “If Only”, which follows the Saya Gray-collaborations “Lean” as well as “Selfish” and “High Road", which were co-written and co-produced by Gray. Speaking to Best Fit for this week's cover story, Wilson talks in depth about her journey to find her voice in music and about her relationship with Gray. “I would say in some ways she executive produced the EP. She thinks like a producer,” she explains.
"For me, a producer is also someone who can tell you not to do anything else, and she did a lot of that with me for this project. I showed her the demos and she would just be like, ‘Your production is sick. Just let it be what it is. Don’t bring it to someone else.’ I don’t know whether that’s executive production or just a good friend.”
This EP released follows a significant period for Wilson. In 2025, she was presented with the inaugural Canadian Innovator Award at Billboard’s Women in Music event; the year before, her record Cyan Blue snagged a GRAMMY-nomination.
