Zero drops the bass with his 14ZERO, a five-track EP full of four-on-the-floor gritty basslines and his blend of dubstep, grime, drum and bass, and UK garage.
UK DJ and producer Zero has mesmerized audiences for almost a decade, creating high-energy, bass-laden tracks that make booties shake and the earth quake. His innate ability to flow seamlessly between bassline, dubstep, grime, and back again gives his sets a modern feel while keeping them gritty and dancefloor-ready.
The latest release from Zero,14ZERO, dives deep into his technical repertoire, showcasing his modern take on wobbly bass and punchy drums. Landing on Zeds Dead’s lauded Deadbeats label, this EP solidifies his spot in the big bass sound.
A nod to the tempo and subgenre of dubstep and grime, 14ZERO features collaborations with vocalists that highlight the new wave of 140 that Zero represents. Opener “Dubplate Fly,” featuring Riko Dan, has his heavy production and Dan’s menacing flow, blending trap with filthy dubstep.
“HMS” is bass-driven dubstep that blends into melodic swing, with fluid drum patterns, while both “Joker” and “Holy Ghost” segue from an aggressive sound to a mellow, groovier vibe and cinematic soundscapes. Closing track “On Job” ties all the elements together into one large growling wub.
With 14ZERO, Zero has completed his genre shift from his previous bass house style to a heavier dubstep sound. This release also comes on the heels of his announcement of the “Bangers Only” global tour series, which kicks off in the UK on February 13 before heading on to North America.
14ZERO is available on Spotify and your preferred platform. You can purchase tickets to the Bangers Only tour by visiting the official tour website, and be sure to follow his socials to see what he’s up to next.
