Above & Beyond curated tunes from PROFF, Jaytech, Darren Tate, Sunny Lax, ANUQRAM, Ezequiel Arias, and more for the long-awaited Anjunabeats Volume 17.
Anjunafamily members from around the world can finally rejoice, as Above & Beyond has finally unveiled the latest volume of the Anjunabeats compilation series. The label’s flagship collection of curated tunes had been on hiatus for four years, with its 16th volume arriving in 2022 as the world continued to open up post-pandemic. Above & Beyond and the Anjunabeats crew have been quite busy since then, dropping a full album and pressing on with memorable milestone shows and more, but now it’s time to turn focus back to the series.
Anjunabeats Volume 17 has finally arrived in its full glory. The compilation’s release was marked by a special pop-up event at 26 Leake Street in London, where Above & Beyond took the stage for a limited-capacity show that created an intimate rave-ready atmosphere. They showcased tracks from the compilation throughout the performance, so let’s dive into some standouts from both discs.
PROFF is the first artist to appear on the first disc, and “Lost In Shinagawa” acts as a perfect palate cleanser. It’s progressive grooves drive straight into ANUQRAM and Second Sine’s “Wake Me Up,” J Ribbon’s remix of XIRA’s “Feel,” and Ezequiel Arias‘ “Psychodelia.” You’ll quickly find yourself lost in a trance after these soundscapes grace your ears, but there’s even more when you dig deeper, like Simon Gregory’s “Keep Moving On,” Darren Tate and Genix’s “Take Us Higher,” and Oliver Smith’s stunning remix of Atlantis‘ “Fiji.”
Soundprank takes the lead on the second disc as “So Below” turns the dial back down another notch. Yet you’ll be brimming with energy soon enough as tracks like J Ribbon’s “Man On Fire,” Michael Cassette’s “United,” Sunny Lax’s “Gravity Of Sleep,” and Ronski Speed’s “Melody Beneath” blare through your speakers. Above & Beyond also drops in a few stunners on this disc, including their rework of Axwell and Errol Reid’s “Feel The Vibe,” which is an absolute gem, and “Major Drop,” which is pure unadulterated fun.
