Shortly after he climbed the Taipei 101 skyscraper in front of millions of viewers on Netflix, Alex Honnold revealed that he mostly listened to Tool on the way up. Turns out he also was making his way up the 1,667-foot building to the sounds of Linkin Park, Nothing More, The Used, and other heavy rock tunes.
Honnold amazingly climbed the building free solo, meaning no harnesses or safety ropes, and any fall likely would have meant his life. With that in mind, he chose a primarily progressive-metal playlist to focus on the task at hand.
A newly shared Spotify playlist by Honnold confirms that he mostly did listen to Tool, including such tracks as “Forty Six & 2,” “Invincible,” “The Grudge,” “Lateralus,” “Schism” and others. But he also listened to multiple tunes by Linkin Park, Nothing More, and The Used, as well as single tracks by Senses Fail, Chevelle, and The Offspring. The full playlist can be streamed below.
