Over the weekend, the Rainbow Bar & Grill on West Hollywood's Sunset Strip held a 54th anniversary show with Alien Ant Farm, LA Guns, Pentagram, and Boy Hits Car (of car hits venue fame). In the parking lot, AAN performed their famous cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal," and they were joined by Corey Feldman.
Dryden Mitchell introduced Feldman as his "childhood hero." Coincidentally it was the night before the Michael premiere in Hollywood. AAF's MJ cover (which turns 25 next month) is their only hit. As a child Feldman was a friend of Michael Jackson, dressing like him and performing his dances. Feldman defended Jackson amid the allegations of child sexual abuse until the Leaving Neverland documentary came out in 2019: "I cannot in good consciousness defend anyone who’s being accused of such horrendous crimes," he said at the time. The biopic is out Friday. Watch the "Smooth Criminal" performance below.
