Remember when, in John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) dropped by a ballerina/assassin school run by Anjelica Huston? Sure you do. And we’re going deeper into that pocket of the John Wick universe with this new trailer for From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas as a young ballerina/assassin in training to join the Ruska Roma organization. The film arrives in theaters on June 6th, 2025. Check out the new trailer below
Ballerina was originally set to premiere in 2024 before being moved forward to this year. Directed by Len Wiseman (the Underworld films), the movie also stars Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, and Ian McShane. Lance Reddick will make his final posthumous appearance on screen as Chiron. Plus, of course, Reeves returns as the Baba Yaga himself — Ballerina takes place during the events of Chapter 3, meaning that John Wick still has at least one more adventure to go before [spoilers] in Chapter 4.
While born originally as a straightforward retired-assassin-murders-all-the-dudes-responsible-for-the-death-of-the-puppy-his-dead-wife-left-him action film, the John Wick universe has expanded into a proper franchise over the last 10 years. As executive producer Chad Stahelski told Consequence in 2023, “Our big idea was, how do we do a modern-day fantasy? Like, what’s that? I can’t have trolls, I can’t have elves. But I can have ninjas. I can have cars.”
The scope of said modern-day fantasy now includes Ballerina, the Peacock prequel series The Continental, and another announced spinoff starring Donnie Yen as his Chapter 4 character Caine. “I could watch a Common one, I could watch a Halle Berry one, I could watch a Shamier Anderson one, I could watch a Hiroyuki Sanada one,” Stahelski said in that same interview.
