Arcade Fire have played three new songs live, kicking off their next era. Check out footage and the setlist below.

The gig was held last night (March 13) as part of the comeback of Willie Nelson’s Luck Festival. It was one of numerous guest performances on the night and held at the singer’s ranch in Spicewood, Texas.

For their set, Arcade Fire played an eight-song setlist, which kicked off with a rendition of ‘Cars And Telephones’. From there, they broke out three back-to-back live debuts of new currently unreleased material.

These began with a song called ‘Pink Elephant’, which sees Win Butler and co. capture their signature Arcade Fire sound along with new elements of shoegaze. From there, they went into two more new tracks: ‘Year Of The Snake’ and ‘Ride Or Die’.

Before taking to the stage, they also hinted at the gig on social media, hinting that there would be something to keep an eye out for as it was taking place on the same night as the blood moon.

Fire Arcade’s setlist at Luck Ranch was:

‘Cars and Telephones’
‘Pink Elephant’ (Live debut)
‘Year of the Snake’ (Live debut)
‘Ride or Die’ (Live debut)
‘Deep in the Heart of Texas’ (Alvino Rey & His Orchestra cover)
‘The Suburbs’
‘Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)’
‘Wake Up’

The introduction of new material at the Luck Ranch show comes as the band have been dropping numerous hints online, suggesting that a new announcement is imminent.

Last week, the Canadian indie-rock band got fans talking when they made some drastic changes to their social media pages, including wiping all of their posts and uploading a new profile picture, bio and website link.

While it hasn’t yet been confirmed if this is for a new album, it is worth noting that this is a similar approach to what Win Butler and co. did three years ago, just before they announced their sixth studio album ‘WE’.

Now, with three new songs being played live, it seems like a new chapter and the announcement of new material is well on the way.

Before Arcade Fire began teasing fans with online updates, they kicked off a new campaign rollout when the frontman teamed up with David Byrne and St. Vincent for a rendition of David Bowie‘s ‘Heroes’ during the 50th-anniversary celebrations of Saturday Night Live.

The band then announced a one-off show at High Water in South Carolina, taking place next month.

If the teasers do lead to a new album from Arcade Fire, it’ll be their first since allegations of sexual misconduct arose against frontman Win Butler. Four people came forward to accuse the singer of inappropriate behaviour, and the accusations also led to Feist leaving the ‘WE’ tour early.

Butler replied to the allegations in a lengthy statement of his own, claiming he was “very sorry to anyone who I have hurt with my behaviour” but maintaining that “these relationships were all consensual”.
