The 11-track LP – the group's first full-length release since 2022’s Blink Once – was recorded in LA with John Congleton (St. Vincent, Death Cab for Cutie) and was previewed by the band while serving ice cream at a pop-up event in Toronto.
The album’s cover art, photographed by Pelle Cass, shows the band on the rooftop of Hamilton’s Jackson Square, a nod to their hometown roots.
Arkells frontman Max Kerman describes news track "Next Summer" as a song that grapples with the unknown: “When someone new enters your life, do you ever wonder, ‘what did last summer look like for this person? And for me? And what will next summer look like?’”.
The single builds on recent release "Money", a collaboration with Portugal. The Man, and "What Good?". Between Us will also feature guest appearances from GROUPLOVE and electronic act Poolside.
