Sugababes and Natasha Bedingfield have both been added to the line-up for the 2025 edition of the Big Weekend 2025.
Announced this morning (April 16), the two new artists have been added to the packed line-up as the Radio 1 Anthems acts. This is part of a new instalment for the festival, which celebrates iconic tracks and unforgettable moments from the past two decades of music.
The extension was added in keeping with the Radio 1 Anthems extension, which launched on BBC Sounds last November and helps the station’s young listeners to discover and re-discover a wide range of music and artists championed by Radio 1 throughout the 2000s and 2010s.
The 2025 edition of the festival will take place at Sefton Park in Liverpool between Friday May 23 and Sunday May 25. Natasha Bedingfield’s set will be on the opening night (23), while Sugababes will take to the stage the next day (24).
“It’s a big deal to be part of Radio 1’s Big Weekend. I can’t wait to jump up on stage and sing my heart out with everyone. Let’s hope some inhibitions get released,” said Bedingfield.
Sugababes added: “We’re buzzing to be playing Radio 1’s Big Weekend! We’ve heard amazing things about the energy and the crowds, so we’re excited to be part of it this year. Expect a lot of love, big tunes, and a show to remember!”

Speaking about the new addition of the Anthem Acts, head of Radio 1 Aled Haydn Jones said: “Radio 1’s Big Weekend is about bringing people together through the music they love, and our Radio 1 Anthems artists are a perfect example of that.
“These acts have soundtracked unforgettable moments for our audience and continue to resonate with listeners today – whether they’re rediscovering the songs or discovering them for the first time.
“I’m really excited about this brand-new addition to Big Weekend and can’t wait to see the impact these iconic acts will have on the crowd in Liverpool.”
Earlier this year, a host of acts were announced for the weekend, including Sam Fender, Blossoms, Lola Young, Wet Leg and BRITs Rising Star 2025 winner Myles Smith.
Last month, a new wave of artists joined the bill, with Tom Grennan announced as the Friday night headliner, while the likes of Biffy Clyro, Confidence Man, Barry Can’t Swim, Nia Archives, Katy B and The Wombats are also set to perform. The line-up for the BBC Introducing Stage has also been revealed, with Crawlers among those performing. Visit here for tickets.
Last year’s Big Weekend took place in Luton, with performances from the likes of Coldplay, Vampire Weekend and RAYE.
Sugababes being added to the line-up comes just days after the girl group – comprising Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhán Donaghy – dropped a surprise new single called ‘Weeds’. It arrived on the same date they kick off their biggest-ever arena tour with a date at Leeds’ First Direct Arena, and it follows ‘Jungle’, which came out in March.
For Bedingfield, the slot marks just one of numerous live appearances she is set to make this summer, and arrives on the heels of a reissue of the ‘Unwritten’ album in celebration of its 20th anniversary.
