Billy Corgan, frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins and president/owner of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), has announced a new broadcast television deal for the wrestling operation.
NWA Powerrr, the promotion’s flagship program running since its debut in 2019, will premiere on Comet TV on May 1st at 10 p.m. A second all-new episode will then air the following date May 2nd at 4 p.m., with both hour-long episodes repeating later on May 2nd at 10:30 p.m, and 11:30 p.m. respectively.

Powerrr has had a rocky history with broadcast, first starting as a YouTube-exclusive show for a year before appearances on the FITE TV streaming service, the CW app, a second YouTube-exclusive stint, and a period on the Roku Channel. It’s run on Comet TV will be its first broadcast television deal under Corgan’s leadership.
NWA last was featured on broadcast television during the early days of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, then known as NWA: Total Nonstop Action, which at the time delivered weekly pay-per-views before landing its own regular broadcast deal for its flagship show Impact in 2004.
The 77-year old promotion and progenitor of such major promotions as the WWWF, now the WWE, WCW, Ring of Honor and All Elite Wrestling, will inaugurate it’s first short with another installment of the Crockett Cup tag team tournament. The cup was founded in 1986 and ran for three years before being resurrected by Corgan in 2019.
Of the move, Corgan said, “The NWA has always been about storytelling, personality, and passion. This partnership with Sinclair’s Comet TV is the first step in NWA’s push into free television and allows us to reconnect with audiences the way I experienced wrestling growing up, when it was accessible to everyone.”
“Sinclair, through its previous stewardship of Ring of Honor, demonstrates they know how to honor wrestling’s legacy while building for its future. Together, we’re bringing that spirit back to fans and families across the country.”
Meanwhile, the Smashing Pumpkins will play Lollapalooza in their hometown of Chicago in July, and the Darker Waves festival in Huntington Beach, California, in November. Pick up tickets here.
