Black Label Society have released “Ozzy’s Song” as part of the band’s new album, Engines of Demolition, which is out today. The track was written penned by frontman Zakk Wylde in honor of his late friend Ozzy Osbourne.
Wylde was a member of Ozzy’s solo band for multiple stints, including the most recent lineup. He recorded six studio albums with Ozzy, including the iconic No More Tears and the final Ozzy solo album, Patient Number 9.

The guitarist wrote part of the song using “The Grail,” a Les Paul guitar that he used in his first writing sessions with Ozzy Osbourne roughly 40 years ago.
Wylde told Guitar World, “I wrote the music before Oz passed away. But after Oz passed away, when we went back to England and we laid Ozzy to rest, when I got right from that, I went straight to Pantera celebrations with Phil, Rex , and Charlie. And then when I got done, when we got done with the Pantera celebration run, when I got home, I was just sitting in the house and [this] is when I wrote the lyrics and just sang the song. I was just thinking about Oz, and then I just wrote the lyrics.”
A special live peformance of the song, as well as its music video, will premiere tonight, March 27th, at 10 p.m. ET via Veeps. At 11:30 p.m., the music video will debut on YouTube (in the player below).
