Blood Orange Releases New Single “The Field”: Stream

Dev Hynes’ Blood Orange has released “The Field,” his first new song under the moniker since 2022. Hynes assembled a slew of artists for the track, including Caroline Polachek, The Durutti Column’s Vini Reilly, Daniel Caesar, and Tariq Al-Sabir. Listen to the song below.

Hynes produced and mixed “The Field,” and is also credited with performing vocals, piano, cello, synths, and drum programming on the song. The Durutti Column provided guitar on the track, while Polachek, Caesar, and Al-Sabir contributed their respective vocals. On social media, Blood Orange referred to “The Field” as “a song about deep breaths in country fields & the ones we miss when we close our eyes.”

Hynes has a handful of shows lined up for the rest of 2025, including an appearance at San Francisco’s Portola Festival, as well as shows opening for both Turnstile and Lorde on their respective tours (get tickets here). Hynes also contributed to Lorde’s own new album Virgin, out June 27th.

Blood Orange’s last release was 2022’s Four Songs EP. His most recent full-length album was 2018’s Negro Swan, which was followed up with the 2019 mixtape Angel’s Pulse
