Boards Of Canada Share First New Music In 13 Years

Boards Of Canada fans were in a tizzy last week after some people received mysterious VHS tapes in the mail from Warp, their longtime label. Those tapes didn't include new music, but it felt like pretty solid evidence that the IDM icons might be gearing up for a big return. Now we have even more confirmation: Today Boards Of Canada dropped "Tape 05," a three-minute recording of brand new music. It's Boards Of Canada's first new music in 13 years, following their 2013 album Tomorrow's Harvest. It's unclear if this is a full song or if it's just a snippet of a longer piece to come, but either way, it's a very pretty and peaceful wash of gentle, droning synths. Listen below.
