Bon Iver launches archival series with new album, VOLUMES: ONE

The VOLUMES series sees Bon Iver, the project of Justin Vernon, compile live shows, demos, unreleased recordings and other previously unheard material from over the years, with VOLUMES ONE set to be the first collection — bringing together ten performances recorded between 2019 and 2023, when Bon Iver would perform their final live show to date. A performance of fan-favourite track "HEAVENLY FATHER" in Milan in 2022 serves as the first preview of the collection and is accompanied by a live video.

Vernon began working on VOLUMES: ONE back in 2020 to capture the work of himself and his bandmates Andrew Fitzpatrick, Jenn Wasner, Matthew McCaughan, Michael Lewis and Sean Carey, with the tracks polished with live engineering from Xandy Whitesel. Discussing the project, Vernon shares: “This particular set of 10 songs is like, ‘Here, if you’ve never heard Bon Iver, or you have and you didn’t like it, this might be for you.’ This is what we became. This is really us at our best. This is it."
