‘Breaking Bad’ house owner resorts to hosing fans who approach her house for selfie

The owner of Walter White’s home in Breaking Bad has resorted to hosing fans who get too close to her house.

Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the house was used in the Bryan Cranston-fronted series which ran between 2008 and 2013.

Earlier this year, the house was put on the market for $4million (£3.2million), despite other similar homes in the area estimated to be worth $350,000 (£281,746).

Since the show first began aired, fans have often visited the location to take photos. Speaking to local radio station KOB4, current owner Joanne Quintana previously said they average “300 cars a day.”

Though Quintana recalled some positive memories from the show’s production, including the day Cranston threw a pizza on the roof in one take, she told the station she was frustrated with the amount of traffic from fans in recent years, as well as those recreating the show’s famous pizza moment.

Now, it has been revealed that she has become so fed up with people turning up at her home that she has resorted to firing a hose at anyone who gets too close.

To keep fans at bay, she previously added a fence to protect the property, but eventually decided to sell up. “We’re going to walk away with just our memories. It’s time to move on. We’re done. There’s no reason to fight anymore,” Quintana said at the time. “I hope they make it what the fans want. They want a BnB, they want a museum, they want access to it. Go for it.”

Elsewhere, it was recently revealed that fake meth was stolen from the set during filming for Breaking Bad, according to the show’s prediction designer.

Last year, Cranston also told Breaking Bad fans that it was time to let the show go, explaining: “Everything should come to an end. Everything’s cyclical. Our lives are cyclical. The seasons, trees, everything. And, so, it’s okay to have a beginning, middle, and end, and then let it go. I’m proud of what we did.”

As well as a cameo in the final season of Better Call Saul, Cranston reappeared as White for a brief appearance in one-off film El Camino in 2019, and also revived the character for a Super Bowl commercial in 2023.

Creator Vince Gilligan also discussed the possibility of a spin-off show for White’s son Walt Jr. (RJ Mitte) in 2023.
