Jack White has released a new music video for “Archbishop Harold Holmes,” a track from his 2024 album, No Name, starring the always-entertaining John C. Reilly as a televangelist-like figure who ends up in a mental hospital. Watch it below.
Directed by Gilbert Trejo, the video was filmed at a church in Los Angeles. It sees Reilly passionately acting out lyrics from the song like, “I realize that you have tried and tried and are just about ready to give up/ But I got good news for you/ God has spoken to my mind and told me to tell you/ To get moving in the right direction for a change.”
According to a press release, Reilly is a longtime friend of White’s, who, upon hearing “Archbishop Harold Holmes,” pitched the veteran rocker on playing the titular character in the visual treatment for the song. White then gave Reilly and Trejo the creative freedom to fulfill their vision as they saw fit.
Reilly isn’t the only figure to appear in the video, which also features Sami Perez of Cherry Glazer, Staz Lindes of the Paranoyds, Misha Lindes of Sadgirl, and Starcrawler’s Arrow de Wilde.
White is coming off his “No Name” tour, which Consequence dubbed one of the Best Live Shows of last year. We also named him our 2024 Artist of the Year.
In August, White will return to the road for a series of headlining appearances at festivals including Bourbon & Beyond, Riot Fest, and CBGB Festival. Get your passes here.
Meanwhile, Reilly released his debut album as alter-ego Mister Romantic this past Friday. Titled What’s Not to Love?, it features covers of Tom Waits songs and recordings made famous by Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Jo Stafford, and more.
