"JUMPER", the lead track from CASI, sees the pair slam ICE with heavy drums and guitars and is accompanied by a boxing-inspired music video directed by Colin Matsui. Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, the pair explain: “We were supposed to play our first show down in LA at a venue close to downtown and due to the curfew placed around the ICE protests we weren't able to do it. We ended up spending most of the day driving around the city trying to find something to do, seeing some really upsetting stuff. You're on the freeway and a squad of 10 cop cars will fly by filled with 4 guys with AR’s, and we're all thinking ‘for what?.’ They were putting peoples grandparents in cuffs and kids getting tear gassed, it just was all so dehumanising. We were charged up, and it really comes through on this track.”
Casi's origins date back to Edwards and Young meeting for the first time in fifth grade, living in Spanaway, Washington, and going on to make music together throughout their 12-year friendship. Although Edwards eventually moved to Los Angeles with Enumclaw, he regularly returned to Spanaway, continuing to make music with Young when they found opportunities to. CASI is the product of their creative efforts, mixing hip-hop, hardcore, emo and nu metal to navigate isolation, heartbreak, mental health, familial and financial struggles, and the current political climate.
