A new Channel Tres single called "Black Techno Guy" is sort of like a new JPEGMAFIA album called Experimental Rap. Those are the dumbest and most obvious terms that we could use to describe these artists, but maybe those artists want to own those terms. On "Black Techno Guy," Channel Tres chants, "I'm the Black techno guy, Black techno guy." I guess he is!
"Black Techno Guy" goes hard. Channel Tres is on a real roll right now; his excellent single "Pop Pop" came out last month. Tres co-wrote and co-produced "Black Techno Guy" with his regular collaborator Nick Sylvester, who happens to be one of my best friends. I'm not posting the song because I'm friends with Nick, though. I'm posting it because it's good. The hammering kick? The swirling strings? The ultra-casual monotone vocals? That's the good shit.
