Coyote vs. Acme, the upcoming live-action animated film once shelved by Warner Bros. as a tax write-off, is set for release on August 28th after being resurrected for theatrical distribution by Ketchup Entertainment. Now, the movie has received its first sneak peek through the first trailer. Watch it below.

The film sees Wile E. Coyote deciding to sue the Acme Corporation after every one of the company’s products backfired in his endless pursuit of the Road Runner. A down-and-out human billboard attorney, Kevin Avery (Will Forte), represents Coyote in the lawsuit, which pits them against Acme’s corporate lawyer, Buddy Crane (John Cena), who also happens to be Kevin’s former boss.

Produced by James Gunn and directed by Dave GreenCoyote vs. Acme also stars Lana Condor alongside Luis Guzmán, P. J. Byrne, Tone Bell, and Martha Kelly.

While the film completed shooting in 2022, it was shelved in November 2023 for a reported $30 million tax write-off as part of cost-cutting measures that already included pulling the plug on a $90 million Batgirl movie starring Leslie Grace in 2022.

Warner Bros. reversed course just days later and allowed the filmmakers to begin shopping the project to other distributors. Ketchup Entertainment acquired the rights to Coyote vs. Acme in March 2025.
