DAX RIGGS: "ACID BATH Won't Make New Music"

8 hours ago 2

After disbanding in January 1997 following the tragic death of bassist Audie Pitre, Acid Bath remained inactive for over two decades. The band’s cult status only grew during this long hiatus, with their two studio albums, When the Kite String Pops and Paegan Terrorism Tactics, gaining legendary recognition in the sludge and doom metal scenes.

Then, on October 15, 2024, Acid Bath surprised fans by officially announcing their return to live performance, with a scheduled appearance at the Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas on April 12, 2025. This would have marked their first live show in 28 years, but the festival was canceled and the reunion then kicked off on April 25, 2025, with a show in New Orleans.

Acid Bath is currently vocalist Dax Riggs, guitarists Sammy "Pierre" Duet and Mike Sanchez, drummer Zack Simmons (Goatwhore), and bassist Shane Wesley (Crowbar).

As Acid Bath continues to play shows in 2026, of course the question of new Acid Bath has come up. New Noise Magazine recently asked Riggs about the potential for new Acid Bath jams, to which he responded: "Acid Bath won't make new music, but the members will continue to write and record in their respective projects."

Riggs also joked in his own dry way that the real reason Acid Bath got back together was the money: "There was never a real attempt [to reunite prior to now] — it was just inter-web bullshit. As far as why now? Death and taxes."
