After 20 years and six albums with Atlantic Records, Death Cab for Cutie have announced that they’ve returned to an independent label, ANTI-. “We are thrilled to be joining the roster at ANTI- which includes some of our favorite artists, old friends and in many cases, both,” Ben Gibbard says. “We also can’t wait to begin this new chapter with the wonderful staff at ANTI- and share with you what we’ve been working on.” A press release says to “stay tuned for news on new music soon.”
While we wait, they’ve announced a summer North American tour, with Japanese Breakfast, Jay Som, and Nation of Language each joining them on select dates. “One of my favorite parts of being in this band is getting to be out on the road with artists that inspire us,” Gibbard says. “Japanese Breakfast, Jay Som and Nation of Language have made some of our favorite albums in recent years and we’re stoked they’ll be joining us this summer.”
Tickets go on sale Friday, January 30 at 10 AM local, with an artist presale starting Wednesday, January 28 at 10 AM local. See all dates below.
