The Florida rapper, performing within the collective under the alias Big Ultra, is joined by a cadre of artists including A$AP Ferg, Bktherula, TiaCorine, and Key Nyata. The announcement comes with lead single, “Lit Effect”, produced by BNYX and featuring Bktherula and LAZER DIM 700 which leans into a rock-tinged, energetic sound that signals the crew's direction.
The Scythe represents a deliberate pivot for Curry and re-centres a raw, regional Southern sound, pulling from the gritty textures of Memphis, Houston, and Miami hip-hop. Curry is framing the collective not as a side project, but as a distinct creative unit: “The Scythe is a family and a group,” Curry says. “We still have our respective solo careers but when we come together it's The Scythe.”
Curry's schedule remains busy outside of the new collective with support slots for Deftones on their upcoming UK and European arena tour in February. Strictly 4 The Scythe marks his first full project since the 2024 album version of his career-launching mixtape King Of The Mischievous South. That release was reconfigured with a new tracklist and five additional songs, including collaborations with several artists who now form part of The Scythe.
