DevilDriver have announced their 11th album, Strike and Kill, via Napalm Records. In advance of its July 10th release date, the veteran groove-metal band has unleashed the lead single, “Dig Your Own Grave.”

DevilDriver have also announced a run of North American tour dates for late summer 2026 in support of the album. The outing features support from metalcore band Upon a Burning Body and blackened deathcore outfit Ov Sulfur.

The tour kicks off on August 14th in San Diego, California, hitting cities like Austin, Texas, Chicago and Reno, Nevada before wrapping up on September 5th in Anaheim, California. Various pre-sales are already underway, with a public on-sale beginning Friday, April 17th, at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.

The single “Dig Your Own Grave” showcases the band’s heavier take on groove metal, sitting somewhere between melodic death metal and metalcore. It features abrasive and heavily rhythmic riffs backed by both eerie synthesizers in the chorus and great lead work from the current twin-guitar attack of Alex Lee and Gabe Mangold. The breakdown also has a nice death metal feel, sounding not too far off from something Immolation might do.

Frontman Dez Fafara stated that the song “is about how one wrong decision, one wrong move can see your whole world turned upside down, effectively ‘digging’ your own grave… it’s that simple.”

He added, “It can also refer to how your decisions can fuck someone else. This is why there’s the line ‘Six feet ain’t deep enough for you,’ because only a deep, deep hole is fitting for what you’ve done or tried to do to others. Be careful when you choose to make decisions at midnight.”

In speaking about the album, Fafara noted, “My headspace hasn’t changed, I have not become complacent or soft in my view of the world or in my music. Metal is our outlet as listeners and writers, so on this record we focused on ‘getting it all out’ lyrically, and backing those lyrics with savage, relentless music that fuels the heavy California groove like no other.”

He continued, “DevilDriver has never sounded like any other band, we do our own thing in our own way, and I’m the most proud of that.”

The album and tour announcements come roughly one year after Fafara canceled a 2025 tour for his nu-metal band Coal Chamber following ongoing medical complications with long COVID that nearly resulted in his death.
