Dirty on Purpose, the highly underrated 2000s-era shoegazey Brooklyn indie rock band, are reissuing their great 2006 debut album, Hallelujah Sirens, including its first-ever vinyl release as a double-LP set that also includes their 2005 Sleep Late for a Better Tomorrow EP (also first time on vinyl). Both were remastered for this release by Kurt Feldman of Pains at Being Pure at Heart, and there are also two newly recorded bonus tracks: “Ways to Drown” and “These Days Were For Us,” songs that were live staples but never before laid down in the studio. It’s out September 5 via Kanine (preorder) and vinyl is limited to 250 copies.

We’ve also got the premiere of a “lost” video for Hallelujah Sirens‘ “Car No Driver.” It was directed by Brendan Colthurst and shot as part of a pilot for a comedy/live music hybrid series co-created by Disposable Television and Experimental Troupe Comedy that never got picked up. DoP explain:
Buddies Vikram Ghandi, Brendan Colthurst and Bryan Carmel had an idea for a television show where they would throw a party in their Chinatown loft, invite all their favorite improv comedians, sketch out a loose plot, and start filming. And they would have a band play. That’s where we came in. They shot the music performance last, so we were sitting around for hours and hours before we got to play. All the comedians were pretty amped up, trying to be locked in and funny all night, while we were drinking and getting tired and sloppy. I believe this was the pilot episode and they shopped it around, but it never got picked up.
The comedians include Nick Kroll, Chelsea Peretti, Kristen Schaal, Alison Becker, Sarah Burns, Kevin Flinn, Anne Johnson, Emily Kramer, Justin Lahey, Catie Lazarus, Bob McClure, Gene Perelson, and Sam Turich, all looking very young.
