Duran Duran stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform their new song “Free to Love” alongside Nile Rodgers.
With an empowering tone and a throwback sound lifted from Duran Duran and Rodgers’ mid-’80s era, they gave a faithful and anthemic rendition of “Free to Love.” Vocalist Simon Le Bon was joined by a backing vocalist, but his booming voice alone remains expressive and earnest; Rodgers, meanwhile, vibed and sang to Le Bon as he played guitar, just looking happy to be there (Rodgers’ usual demeanor). Behind the band, a display featuring rainbows, unicorns, and dancers was shown, reinforcing the song’s themes of LGBTQ+ pride and being free to love beyond societal barriers. Watch their performance below.
Duran Duran revealed the collaborative track earlier this month as their first new music offering of the year; their last album was 2023’s Halloween-themed Danse Macabre. The band will headline Redondo Beach, California’s BeachLife Festival this weekend, followed by a brief Vegas residency and a European trek; get tickets to see Duran Duran here.
