Dwayne Johnson Details Cancer Scare

Dwayne Johnson has opened up about a recent cancer scare, telling Esquire how his doctor found a lump on his testicles during the Jumanji: Open World press tour.

The 54-year-old explained that he experienced pain in one of his testicles that worsened over a couple of days. He scheduled a doctor’s visit amid a packed schedule of press obligations, and the doctor advised him to book an ultrasound for later that day. Johnson instead chose to carry on with his promotional duties, receiving an ultrasound the next morning.

“So I had to live with that for those 24 hours, not knowing,” he said. “And I had to be on all day, joking around, making speeches. But! I’m okay,” he added, explaining that he was diagnosed with epididymitis, an inflammation of a tube at the back of the testicle.

He’s fine now, but this is still a great reminder for certain men (y0u know who you are) to go ahead and book that doctor’s appointment. Jumanji: Open World is scheduled for this Christmas, and before then you can see Johnson’s muscle suit in Moana, out July 10th.
