On today’s episode of Radio Andy’s “Andy Cohen Live,” special guest Dylan O’Brien talked to Andy Cohen about his latest film, “Ponyboi,” and how he rewatched old “Jersey Shore” episodes for character inspiration.
“My routine was very much so, like, watching ‘Jersey Shore,’ which, as a reality head, that’s obviously one of the godfathers of reality television,” Dylan told Andy. “I was just sort of enjoying taking a run back through those first three seasons of that masterpiece of a show, and it was just kind of putting me there a little bit, the accents.”
He referenced Pauly D’s mispronunciation of filet mignon on the show, saying, “I gotta put this in the movie.”
When it came to the nude scenes in “Ponyboi,” Dylan said he was “comfortable and psyched about being naked on screen” and even insisted on doing a rap scene in the nude.
“I was irresponsibly trying to go for a certain physique,” he explained of achieving his look for the movie, “because the guy’s a meth dealer and … I wanted to have this cut kind of look. He needed to be kind of intimidating a little bit, too, so I needed to straddle that. But he’s also kind of a loser.”
“Ponyboi” is in theaters on Friday, June 27.
