"Each song is a different 'fig'": Naomi Scott announces debut album 'F.I.G'

Almost half the album has already been released, with new single "Losing You" the fifth track to be shared from the record. The 11-song collection was produced by Lido, known for his work with Ariana Grande and Aminé, and draws from the church music of Scott's youth to the 1980s pop and rock that filled her father’s music library, as well as 2010's blog-era alt-pop.

A home-video style video for "Losing You", directed by Andrew Norman, was shot in London and premieres at 4pm today – you can watch below after that time.

The singer and actress – who starred as Jasmine in the live-action Aladdin and more recently in Smile 2 – describes the creative process behind the record as both meticulous and liberating. “I’m really proud of how meticulous it is but also how completely free I’ve been with the creative process,” Scott says. “This has been years of honing, craft, and detail and getting it exactly how I want it to be... Each song is a different ‘fig’, a different reality, a different path.”

Scott performed her new material at London's Moth Club last year and supported Blood Orange at Alexandra Palace. Previously released tracks from the album include "Sweet Nausea", "Cherry", "Rhythm", and the ballad "Cut Me Loose".
