Evanescence’s Amy Lee has spoken about her love of The Legend Of Zelda series, with her only tattoo inspired by the long-running video game franchise.

Last month, Evanescence shared new single ‘Afterlife’, which features in the new animated Netflix adaptation of Devil May Cry. The track was the first time the band had been able to get into the studio together since recording 2021’s ‘The Bitter Truth’.

In a new interview with Netflix about the world of video games, vocalist Amy Lee revealed that she’s a “huge” fan of The Legend Of Zelda series. “Ocarina Of Time was my first role-playing game experience and I still play it from time to time, just to calm my heart down and go to sleep. As they’ve gone into Breath Of The Wild and Tears Of The Kingdom, it’s just been this ongoing life journey with me, my family and Legend Of Zelda.

She then showed off her “one tattoo”, a trio of hearts that can be seen in every Legend Of Zelda game to keep track of your health.

Revealing the tattoo in 2018, Lee confirmed it was also a tribute to her little brother Robby, who passed away the same year. “Well, I held out for 36 years but today I got my first tattoo. It’s exactly what my brother wanted, but didn’t get the chance to get. I always thought it was cool but it means more to me now.

“Besides the fact that playing Zelda together was one of our favorite things, he took a piece of my heart with him when he left. I love you forever, Robby,” she wrote in a Facebook post alongside a photo of the tattoo.

Elsewhere in the Netflix interview, Lee revealed that Evanescence are currently working on new music. “We’ve been writing for a new album. Creation is just something that we need right now. I feel a sense of purpose to put something good, something empowering, into the world.”

Last month, Nintendo confirmed that the live-action adaptation of The Legend Of Zelda would be hitting cinemas March 28, 2026. The fourth Sonic The Hedgehog movie is currently scheduled to release just one week before that, with many gaming fans dubbing the clash the new “Barbenheimer”.

In other news, gamers who have played The Last Of Us Part 2 are loving HBO’s “evil” promo for the second season of the TV adaptation.
