Gore metal titans Exhumed are set to return in full throttle mode with their new studio album, Red Asphalt, arriving February 20 via Relapse Records. Alongside the announcement, the band has released a savage new video for the album's lead single, "Unsafe At Any Speed," giving fans their first taste of what promises to be one of 2026's most ferocious extreme metal releases.
Described as a high-speed collision of deathgrind brutality and groove-heavy savagery, Red Asphalt finds Exhumed shifting thematic gears. After recent albums explored graveyards, operating theaters, horror culture, and the band's own legacy, this time the focus turns to a far more familiar — and deadly — setting: the American roadway.
"We're very stoked to be back in your earholes with Red Asphalt," said Exhumed mastermind Matt Harvey. "This time around, we're inviting you to accompany us to a place that we spend a disproportionate amount of our lives… a place that can take you to the hospital or the grave in more ways than you can imagine: the American roadway."
Red Asphalt serves as a twisted love letter to life on the road, packed with themes of horrific accidents, vehicular homicide, defective cars, gore-soaked safety films, zombified biker gangs, and mechanical death.
Musically, the album smashes Exhumed's trademark riff-fueled deathgrind into whiplash-inducing grooves and perilous turns, delivering relentless intensity without sacrificing hooks. Pre-orders for Red Asphalt are available here.
To support the release, Exhumed will take Red Asphalt on the road throughout 2026. The band kicks off a U.S. tour from February 19 through March 21 with Oxygen Destroyer and No/Más!
After a brief pit stop, Exhumed heads to Europe and the UK alongside Relapse labelmates Gruesome, running from April 4 through May 2. Tickets for all dates are on sale now, with additional shows expected to be announced. Get your tickets here.
