Exodus announce new album ‘Goliath,’ share “3111”

Thrash legends Exodus are fresh off announcing their opening slot on Sepultura’s “final” North American tour (alongside Biohazard and Tribal Gaze), and now they’ve announced a new album, Goliath, due March 20 via Napalm Records (pre-order). It reunites them with lead vocalist Rob Dukes, who fronted Exodus between 2005 and 2014, and it features contributions from Hypocrisy/Pain’s Peter Tägtgren and violinist Katie Jacoby. It was self-produced by the band, and mixed and mastered by Mark Lewis.

“Are we excited for this record?,” the band asks. “That’s an understatement. We put everything we had into this record (and it’s 80 percent complete follow up, but we’ll save that conversation for another day!) and it’s one of our proudest accomplishments. Wildly collaborative, the most band centric album to date with four songs written by Lee, lyrics by Gary, Rob, Lee and Tom, and just killer all the way around. The time to let the monster loose is coming! Bow Down!”

The first taste is album opener “3111,” and it finds Exodus coming out swinging. It’s a thrash ripper that the band says is “about the narco killings in Juarez, and ‘3111’ is the estimated number of murders for 2010 alone.” A press release also states, “The official video is too brutal for YouTube and is being denied. It will be released in its entirety at a later time and place.” Check out a stream of the song below.

As previously mentioned, Exodus’ tour with Sepultura, Biohazard, and Tribal Gaze begins on April 29 at Wellmont Theater in Montclair, NJ. Before that, Exodus will do a Canada tour with fellow US thrash legends Megadeth (whose “final” album is out this week) and Anthrax (who are also expected to release a new album soon), followed by a Europe tour with German thrash legends Kreator (whose new album came out last week), death metal legends Carcass, and grindy metallic hardcore greats Nails.
